Is Our Environment Safe For Our Children Of Tomorrow?
Have you ever truly looked at our environment and analyzed the kind of impact anthropogenic activities have caused? Our environment has a huge carrying capacity owing to which it could withstand the impact of inhumane exploitation which we have caused so far. However, the earth too comes with a carrying capacity and in recent times, it seems like we have been stretching it and creating a huge ruckus.
This brings us to the big question which we need to answer. Are our children of tomorrow going to enjoy what we so often took for granted? The answer is perhaps no; until we take the right steps that can safeguard our earth and help us un-do or at least mitigate the damage we have already caused.
The Forest Cover Is Depleting
Dig out the statistics and you will know how much forest cover has truly depleted. If we want this blue planet to have its life sustaining capabilities, we will need ample forest cover. If the right actions are not taken at the earliest, we might be well past the damage state.
The forest cover has been exploited at an alarming rate because humans have indiscriminately cut down trees for the sake of their selfish purpose. Cutting down trees not only affects the ecological cycle, but it also affects the biodiversity as well.
The biodiversity factor is extremely important because it involves a series of different chains. The extinction of some of the animals owing to depletion of forest cover can impact the entire cycle and lead to huge troubles too.
There are too many troubles that can be caused and this is why reforestation has become the need of the hour.
The Pollution Is Alarming
Have you ever gone out in the morning and simply explored the beauty of nature? Now, do the same thing in the middle of the afternoon and the hue and cry of the traffic is going to break your peace rather than bring you some.
The levels of pollution are such that it has polluted the entire atmosphere and there are areas that have become so polluted that it is risky for humans to live there. This is definitely not the kind of setting we want to leave for our future generations which thereby calls for some kind of change.
There are various different measures that one can choose to curb pollution as land, water and even air pollution has been spreading at an alarming rate.
These are just some snippets of the palpable condition of our environment. The blue planet is the only one in the solar system that supports life. We have sabotaged the safety of our own children and if we want to make their tomorrow bright enough, it is important to take the right mitigation measures.
The beauty of this planet has already been marred enough and if the right actions are not taken at the earliest, we might damage it beyond repair which will bleak our future permanently. Let us join hands in the initiative to go green.
